On February 26, 2022, local time, the three bank office headquarters projects of ALOQA, ASAKA and PSB in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, which were constructed by SCG, all achieved structural capping. As the first batch of overseas practitioners since the country proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, SCG has laid a solid foundation for the continuous deepening of the cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the joint construction of the Belt and Road with practical actions. This is the first project undertaken by SCG in Uzbekistan, and it is also the largest EPC project among overseas projects.

Uzbekistan is the second largest country among the five Central Asian countries. The capital, Tashkent, is one of the largest cities in Central Asia and an important commercial hub on the ancient Silk Road.

The three bank projects undertaken by SCG are located in the core area of Tashkent New City. Construction started in June 2019. It is the first super-high-rise project built in Uzbekistan after the implementation of the "reform and opening up" policy in 2016, including ALOQA Bank, ASAKA Bank, PSB Bank The headquarters office building has a total construction area of 225,400 square meters.

The three banks are all super high-rise projects. ALOQA and ASAKA have 26 floors and a height of 115.6 meters, while PSB Bank has 33 floors and a height of 147.1 meters. After completion, they will become new landmarks in the capital Tashkent.

SCG's project team found after on-the-spot investigation that the local concrete in Uzbekistan contains a large amount of cement, which is not conducive to the control of structural cracks in the later stage, and C60 high-grade concrete has never been produced locally.

The project team tried every means to transport the materials back to China. After the raw material performance test, they researched the mix ratio that could meet the requirements, and determined the C60 concrete mix at extreme cold (minus 10°C), extreme heat (above 40°C) and normal temperature, and perfected them. The super-high-rise pumped concrete, the dosage of external admixtures, and the winter transportation insulation guarantee under various extreme climates were handed over to two local large-scale mixing plants for production based on the data, which finally created a precedent for local concrete grades.

Steel structure with car skin

According to design drawings and seismic requirements, various building materials, especially main components such as curtain walls and steel structures, cannot be purchased in Uzbekistan and must be exported domestically. However, due to the stagnation of container trains caused by the epidemic, some building materials could not go out of customs in Xinjiang, and some of them arrived in Uzbekistan but were delayed in customs clearance.

To this end, SCG's project team has continuously improved its response and analysis capabilities, communicated and confirmed the list of urgently needed materials in advance, actively coordinated with the local customs, and applied for a free supervision library for urgently needed imported materials to ensure that the materials arrive on time.

The project team also carried out the teaching work of Chinese masters, and promoted the construction of the project in the mode of one Chinese worker leading several local workers. The ratio of localization and domestic workers reached 4:1. Especially in the structure capping sprint stage, the original speed of 8 days/layer has been increased to 6 days/layer.Editor/Ma Xue
