On February 28, 2022, the offshore engineering barge "Haiyang Shiyou 229", the first in Asia and the third in the world, was upgraded and rebuilt by Wenchong, a subsidiary of Guangzhou Shipyard International, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation. The ship mainly assists the loading and transportation of the largest deep-water jacket in Asia "Haiji No. 1", and serves the Lufeng Oilfield Group in the eastern South China Sea.

"Offshore Oil 229" was built by Qingdao Beichuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for China National Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation.

The renovated "Haiyang Shiyou 229" jacket has increased its transport and launching capacity from 30,000 tons to 38,500 tons, which can meet the shipping and transportation needs of "Haiji No. 1" with a height of 302 meters and a weight of 30,000 tons.

The sea area where the Lufeng Oil Field Group is located is more than 200 kilometers away from Hong Kong, China, with a water depth of about 284 meters. It is the first time in China to design, build and install a fixed jacket platform in this deep water area. After full production, the peak annual crude oil output of Lufeng oilfields reached 1.85 million tons.

On July 17, 2021, "Haiyang Shiyou 229" entered Wenchong for repair and renovation, which lasted 227 days. It mainly completed the renovation and installation of the widened pontoon on both sides of the ship, the upgrade of the rocker arm, the modification of the load regulation system, and the overall longitudinal strength. Reinforcing, renewing the main windlass and other projects, the total amount of steel structure modification is about 6,500 tons, which has created the most in the history of many Wenchong repair plants.

"Haiyang Shiyou 229" has 6 new pontoon sections, each weighing up to 415 tons, which is the largest section in Wenchong's dry dock. Wenchong built and transported the sections to the bottom of the dock through a floating crane, and then used the module car to translate the dock, and used a three-dimensional hydraulic locator to assist in the installation and positioning, and efficiently completed the installation and positioning of 6 sections within four days.

Through simple tooling, Wenchong repaired and installed all the reinforcing materials precisely to the bottom of the ship's 21 cabins and the designated positions between the deck longitudinals. It is understood that a total of 4,512 pieces of reinforcement for the longitudinal strength of the deck longitudinals and bottom longitudinals of the ship were installed, of which 2,256 pieces of reinforcements for the bottom longitudinals and 20,000 meters of welds were manually welded in the cabin and completed in 5.5 days in a single dock. , and pass the one-time inspection before unloading.

Record number and weight of longitudinal strength reinforcements installed

The newly built launching rocker arm of "Haiyang Shiyou 229" is the largest launching rocker arm in China so far. The type and thickness of alloy steel and high-strength steel used are extremely rare in this shipyard and even in the entire domestic ship repair industry. During the transformation process, Wenchong repaired and built it right once, and completed the segmental installation and debugging of the two rocker arms and rocker arm bottom brackets accurately and efficiently.

During the renovation, Wenchong repaired and optimized and upgraded the ballast and ventilation system pipelines of "Haiyang Shiyou 229", added pipelines of different specifications and added a valve remote control system, which greatly improved the load adjustment capacity of the whole ship, and ensured the smooth operation of the ship. It provides a strong support for launching operations at sea.

Complete the upgrade of the load transfer system with high quality

After the ship entered the factory, Wenchong repair and construction overcame the unfavorable factors such as the new crown pneumonia epidemic, hot weather, high technical difficulty, difficult construction, and labor shortage during the Spring Festival, and completed the delivery on schedule.

At the beginning of the project, the temporary party branch of the "Offshore Oil 229" modification project was formed by Wenchong Repair and Construction, Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. and Nansha Inspection Office of China Classification Society Guangzhou Branch.
