In March 2022, the grasslands are gradually rejuvenating. On the Shandan Army Horse Farm at the foot of Qilian Mountain in Zhangye, Gansu Province, hundreds of horses are leisurely foraging for food at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. The blue sky, snow-capped mountains, horses and grasslands constitute a picture of spring on the plateau.

Shandan Junmachang is located in the middle of the Hexi Corridor, spanning Gansu and Qinghai provinces, adjacent to three cities (prefectures) and six counties, with a total area of 3,295,400 mu. It was originally established in 121 BC and has a long history of more than 2,100 years. It is currently the largest in the world. and the oldest horse farm.

The terrain here is flat, with lush water and grass, green grass in summer and golden in winter. It is an ideal place for horses to breed and grow. In recent years, in order to protect the ecological environment, implement projects such as returning grazing to grass, prohibiting grazing and resting grazing, Shandan Army Horse Farm has begun to focus on cultivating horse racing and developing tourism.
