On March 10, 2022, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced the "Approval for the Approval of the Luogang Interchange Reconstruction Project of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Section of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway", agreeing to implement the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Guangzhou-Shenzhen Luogang Interchange Reconstruction Project.

According to reports, the main construction contents of the in-situ reconstruction of Luogang Interchange Interchange include: the reconstruction of 2.45 kilometers of the main highway within the interchange, including the removal of one original main line bridge of about 783.8 meters, one small bridge of about 18.1 meters, and new main line bridges of 2 About 824.8 meters, 2 main line bridges about 28.3 meters in width; 4 original ramp bridges about 963.2 meters were demolished, and 2.762 kilometers of new ramps were built, including 2 new ramp bridges about 511.2 meters; 1.45 kilometers of the main road of Kaikai Avenue was renovated, of which new One sunken tunnel on the main road is about 870 meters; a new 1.498-kilometer auxiliary road on Kaikai Avenue is built; a sound insulation and noise reduction superstructure is constructed. Simultaneously build the necessary traffic engineering and facilities along the line.

The main line within the interchange area adopts the technical standard of a two-way 10-lane expressway with a design speed of 120 km/h, and the roadbed width is 52 meters; the design speed of the ramp is 40 km/h, and the roadbed width is 10.5 meters and 12.5 meters. The total investment of the project is estimated to be 3.053 billion yuan (including the loan interest during the construction period), including 583 million yuan for the expressway main line project within the interchange area, 666 million yuan for the ramp project, and 542 million yuan for the Kaida Avenue project (including the reconstruction of the main road and the new auxiliary road). In the future, after the project is completed, it will further strengthen the interconnection of the transportation infrastructure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and improve the traffic situation in the surrounding areas of the Luogang Interchange of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway.
