It is reported that the West Sichuan Gas Field is located on the western edge of the Sichuan Basin, with a proven gas-bearing area of 139 square kilometers. It is the third large-scale marine gas field discovered by Sinopec in the Sichuan Basin after the Puguang gas field and the Yuanba gas field.
In September 2021, the feasibility study report of the first phase of the production capacity construction of the West Sichuan Gas Field was approved by Sinopec, which will build 4 desulfurization stations, 1 production management center, 1 emergency rescue station, 53 kilometers of gas pipelines and gas field supporting public works. The project is expected to be fully completed and put into operation in September 2023, with an annual output of 1.768 billion cubic meters of purified gas and an annual output of 135,400 tons of sulfur, which can meet the domestic gas needs of 9.6 million households and provide more energy for the southwestern region of my country and along the Sichuan-East Gas Transmission Line. It is understood that, as an important part of the national natural gas production base of 100 billion cubic meters and the construction of "Gas Daqing" in the southwest, the project is listed as a key supervision project for the construction of the national production, supply, storage and marketing system and a key project in Sichuan Province.
