China (Macau) Financial Assets Exchange Co., Ltd. and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange ("LuxSE") Cooperation Conference and the Financial Joint Conference on the Development of Macao and Domestic and Overseas Capital Markets under the Background of the Belt and Road Initiative were held in Macao on the 10th. The organizer expressed the hope that through cooperation and exploration in bond business, green finance and other aspects, it will provide a new model for the Belt and Road financial international cooperation, and help China-Rwanda financial business diversified cooperation to enter the "fast lane".

Zhang Weichun, chairman and president of the MOX Executive Committee, said that up to now, MOX’s cumulative issuance and listing of bonds has exceeded 300 billion patacas. 2022 coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Luxembourg. It is hoped that with the continuous deepening of the cooperation between Luxembourg and Macao, the liquidity of the capital markets of the two places will be continuously enhanced, the financial artery connecting Asia and Europe will be opened, and the financial integration of the Belt and Road Initiative will be jointly supported and green finance will be innovated. Cooperation in the field, promote the development of the offshore RMB market, and make positive contributions to further deepening the economic and financial cooperation between China and Luxembourg.

Julie Becker, President of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, said in a video speech that in January 2020, LuxSE and MOX signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Bond information can be officially disclosed on LuxSE simultaneously. This presents a new opportunity not only for issuers in Macau, but also for international investors eager to enter the Greater Bay Area market. Hope the two financial centers are more closely linked and look forward to welcoming more MOX issuers to LuxSE in the near future.

Huang Zhaohui, CEO of CICC and Chairman of the Management Committee, said that CICC has established close cooperative relations with MOX and LuxSE in the fields of cross-market product cooperation, financial innovation, and green finance. This cooperation adds to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Rwanda, and further demonstrates the friendly relations between China and Rwanda. We look forward to deepening our cooperation with MOX and LuxSE, and working with partners from all over the world to explore new opportunities for interconnection, jointly promote the new development of green finance, and create a new situation for financial cooperation.

The organizer stated that this event is the first event co-hosted by MOX, LuxSE and CICC. The long-term and sustainable development of finance will make new contributions to Macao’s integration into the overall development of the country, and to promote the high-quality development of China’s bond market and its opening to the outside world.
