Chinese inverter maker Sungrow has expanded its solar inverter plant in India by 7GW, bringing the plant's capacity to 10GW. The expansion is designed to enable manufacturers to meet customer needs in different segments of the market. The addition of the Sungrow plant comes as the Indian government is pushing to increase the country's domestic solar manufacturing output while reducing its imports of solar PV modules.

"I appreciate this step of Sungrow, and its long-term development plan, which contributes to the ambition of our renewable energy mission. In the future, I hope Sungrow can continue to lead this market, set the benchmark for the Indian solar industry, and contribute to the success of the 'Make in India' initiative," said Bhagwant Kuba, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy of India.

The company also took this opportunity to launch some products in the Indian market, such as the SG350HX with a maximum output of 352kW, supporting double-sided photovoltaic modules, and "1+X" modular inverters. More recently, production-related incentives have been expanded to add more than 40GW of additional cell and module manufacturing in India. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news
In 2021, India added more than 10GW of solar PV, bringing its total installed solar capacity to 49GW. Starting next month, the country will impose a 40 percent basic tariff on solar modules and a 25 percent tariff on solar cells.Editor/XingWentao
