On March 16, the Ministry of Transport released the national port throughput data for February 2022. From January to February, the container throughput of ports nationwide was 43.6 million TEU, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%; the completed cargo throughput was 2.358 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%. Among them, the completed foreign trade cargo throughput was 735 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%.

From January to February, the top ten ports in the country in terms of container throughput were: Shanghai Port (1st), Ningbo Zhoushan Port (2nd), Shenzhen Port (3rd), Qingdao Port (4th), Guangzhou Port (5th). ), Tianjin Port (6th), Xiamen Port (7th), Suzhou Port (8th), Lianyungang Port (9th), and Beibu Gulf Port (10th).

Among the top ten on the list, Ningbo Zhoushan Port, Shenzhen Port, and Guangzhou Port were all affected by factors such as the epidemic, and their throughput growth slowed down or decreased year-on-year. At the beginning of the year, an epidemic broke out in Beilun District, Ningbo. Ningbo Zhoushan Port quickly opened a two-way green channel for trucks and implemented measures such as "closing the area without closing the port". However, it is not difficult to see from the data that Ningbo Zhoushan Port handled container throughput from January to February. The volume increased by 1.1% year-on-year, and the cargo throughput increased by 2.8% year-on-year. The growth rate has slowed down significantly. It can be seen that the epidemic has a great impact on the production of the port area.

However, the situation facing ports in southern China is even more severe. Due to the outbreak of large-scale confirmed cases, factories have been shut down, trucks cannot be placed in place, warehouse storage at the terminal is approaching the limit, and shipping companies have reduced voyages... Every link in the supply chain is facing huge stress. In addition, at the end of the year and the beginning of the year, factories in southern China were shut down early for holidays. For export-oriented ports, the decrease in the supply of goods was also intuitively reflected in the throughput data. Therefore, the throughput of Shenzhen Port, Guangzhou Port, Dongguan Port and Foshan Port all showed a downward trend.

From January to February, the container throughput of Lianyungang Port increased significantly, and the completed container throughput was 870,000 TEU, which was the same as that of Beibu Gulf Port. From February 21 to 25, 9 ro-ro ships berthed at Lianyungang Port one after another. In addition, Lianyungang Port successfully hoisted oversized general cargo with a volume of 3415.5 cubic meters and a weight of 333 tons, and the business has blossomed for it. The increase in throughput contributes to potential energy. It is worth noting that in 2022, Lianyungang Port and SIPG will sign a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly launch "LianShen Express", and introduce SIPG as the second largest shareholder, which may further improve the throughput in the future. .

Compared with the same period last year, Lianyungang Port rose two places to 9th; Rizhao Port rose one place to 11th; Yingkou Port dropped three places to 12th; Dalian Port rose one place to 12th No. 14; Fuzhou Port fell one place to No. 15; Nanjing Port rose one place to No. 16; Dongguan Port fell one place to No. 17; Tangshan Port rose one place to No. 18 ; Foshan Port dropped one place, ranking 19th; Jiaxing Port replaced Wuhan Port, ranking 20th.

In February, the top ten ports in the country in terms of cargo throughput were: Ningbo Zhoushan Port (1st), Shanghai Port (2nd), Tangshan Port (3rd), Qingdao Port (4th), Guangzhou Port (5th), Rizhao Port (6th), Suzhou Port (7th), Tianjin Port (8th), Yantai Port (9th), Taizhou Port (10th).

In this list, Rizhao Port surpassed Suzhou Port to rank 6th, and Taizhou Port surpassed Beibu Gulf Port to rank 10th.

As a "new star" that has entered the top ten of the list for the first time in recent years, Taizhou Port has completed a total cargo throughput of 60.88 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%. The port circle (ID: gangkouquan) noticed that the cargo throughput of Taizhou Port has increased significantly. First, after the illegal transit on the Yangtze River has been completely banned, Taizhou Port has exerted its advantages as a professional sand and gravel terminal, so the mining and construction materials have increased. Rapidly; second, the addition of a "general" of Taixing Port Co., Ltd., a member of China Railway Construction Port and Navigation Bureau Group, in Taixing Port District has driven the growth of metal ore in Taixing Port and the entire Taizhou Port; third, due to the opening of the "Taizhou- "Weihai" direct flight route lays the foundation for Taizhou Port to create a route layout of "direct domestic trade + direct ocean shipping", so as to obtain more cargo increments.

From January to February, Qingdao Port completed a total cargo throughput of 101.66 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. During the Spring Festival, Qingdao Port successfully competed for 11 400,000-ton ships to berth, making it the busiest "off-season". Not long afterward, the world's largest pulp-carrying capacity ship with a full load of 68,000 tons also came to Qingdao Port, contributing a great deal to its cargo throughput.

In recent months, the outbreak of the epidemic in Tianjin has also affected port production. In order to solve the impact of port collection and distribution on supply chain congestion, Tianjin Port Group has launched sea-side collection and distribution service channels and railway collection and distribution solutions. However, production was still affected to a certain extent, and throughput declined. From January to February, Tianjin Port completed a total cargo throughput of 82.25 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3%.

A total of 6 ports in Jiangsu are on the list. Surprisingly, although the hinterland is similar, the production conditions of these ports are different: Taizhou Port’s cargo throughput increased by 21.3% year-on-year, Jiangyin Port’s cargo throughput increased by 20.01% year-on-year, and Lianyungang Port’s cargo throughput increased by 20.01% year-on-year. The cargo throughput of the port increased by 13.7% year-on-year, maintaining a relatively fast growth rate; the cargo throughput of Suzhou Port increased by 5.1% year-on-year, slightly slowing down; the cargo throughput of Nantong Port increased by 1.1% year-on-year, and the cargo throughput of Nanjing Port decreased by 6.9% year-on-year , slightly lacking in stamina.

Since 2022, the growth rate of container throughput and cargo throughput of my country's ports has slowed down, or even negative growth. The reason is that, on the one hand, due to the impact of the epidemic in ports across the country in 2020, the throughput has dropped sharply, and in 2021, it will be based on this. On the other hand, another round of outbreak of the epidemic has had a huge impact on the production of the port, although there has been a wealth of experience in fighting the epidemic before, However, in the face of the absence of multiple links in the supply chain, it is not scientific for the port to undertake the final pressure. How to take effective measures to alleviate the pressure of collection and distribution and build a more resilient supply chain requires ports, cargo, ships, governments, etc. Many parties participate in thinking together, share the same spirit, and look forward to the coming of spring.
