On March 20, 2022, the construction of 35 infrastructure interconnection projects in the Yijing Jing'en urban agglomeration started in Zhijiang, Yichang, with a total investment of 27.3 billion yuan. Among them, there are 28 in Yichang, 4 in Jingzhou, 1 in Jingmen and 2 in Enshi, including expressways, river crossings, national and provincial trunk lines and port hub connections.

Dangzhisong Expressway

Dangzhisong Expressway is one of the projects under construction in Jingzhou, with a total length of about 75 kilometers, a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, an estimated investment of 16.576 billion yuan, and a construction period of 48 months, of which the Songzi section is 22 kilometers long. An investment of 3.8 billion yuan. The project line starts from the G42 Hurong Expressway in Huanglin Village, Dangyang, and goes south through Lianghe Town, Banyue Town and Wen'an Town, and crosses the G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway. G318, Yanjiang Avenue, crossing the Yangtze River in Tengjiahe Village. The line crosses the Songzi River, the new and old lines, and S254 to the southeast, and connects with the S88 Yiyue Expressway, reaching Yidu. Along the line, there are 9 interchanges including Huanglin, Lianghe, Banyue, Zhijiang East, Zhijiang, Bailizhou, Old Town, Songzi North, and Songzi. The Zhijiang Bailizhou Yangtze River Bridge, which is under construction at the same time, is the 11th river crossing in Yichang. It is a double-tower mixed-girder cable-stayed bridge with a span of 890 meters. Bailizhou is the largest Jiangxinzhou in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. After the bridge is completed and opened to traffic, it will solve the travel difficulties of nearly 100,000 people in Bailizhou.

The project is included in the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Comprehensive Transportation in Hubei Province", the "14th Five-Year Plan for Expressway Development in Hubei Province" and the provincial key construction plan of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission in 2022. After the completion of the project, it will realize the economic cooperation between Jingzhou and Yichang, promote the connection of the two lakes and plains in the west, open up the isolated islands of the Yangtze River, promote the cross-regional cooperation between the four counties and cities of Songzi, Dangyang, Zhijiang and Yidu. The development of the economic belt is of great significance.
