On March 25, 2022, the first one million kilowatt-class offshore wind power project in China, the Three Gorges Yangjiang Shapa Offshore Wind Power Project, exceeded 1 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity in safe production, adding green development momentum to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The Three Gorges Yangjiang Shapa Offshore Wind Power Project is located in the sea area of Shapa Town, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. With a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts, it can provide about 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area every year. The project was connected to the grid at full capacity on December 25, 2021, and the cumulative safe production of clean electricity has exceeded 1 billion kWh, which can replace 307,600 tons of standard coal, which is equivalent to the normal electricity consumption of 500,000 families of three for one year.
The Three Gorges Yangjiang Project is the first offshore wind power project in China to be developed on a large scale. It has created the largest single-capacity offshore booster station in China and the world’s first typhoon-resistant floating offshore wind turbine. Technical solutions have accumulated valuable experience.
Wang Wubin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Three Gorges Energy: We have used 9 technologies in this project, and we have used all the technical forms used in global offshore wind power. Combining the manufacturing forces from the top to the bottom of the industrial chain forms an agglomeration effect that drives the development of the entire industrial chain and local economy.
