Although the concept of human rights first appeared in Western culture, Chinese culture also has its roots and shoots. For example, "people are the most precious in the world", "the benevolent, love others"... These are traditional humanistic thoughts in Chinese culture that have a long history. So how to understand the precious genes of Chinese human rights thought? Recently, Liu Jintian, a researcher at the Human Rights Research Center of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, interpreted the human rights thought contained in traditional Chinese culture.

Liu Jintian, a researcher at the Human Rights Research Center of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, said that in the humanist tradition of Chinese culture, it attaches great importance to the value of human beings. Confucianism is the backbone of Chinese culture. For more than 2,000 years, Confucianism has always attached importance to this value of human beings, just like the pre-Qin Confucianism. Xun Zi, the master of Confucianism, said that compared with inorganic substances, plants, and animals, he is the most precious in the world, and he said, "People have qi, life, knowledge, and righteousness, so they are the most precious in the world. "This all constitutes the value basis of human rights, so people are the most valuable in the world. In fact, people mean that people are the most valuable, which constitutes the value basis of human rights. An important manifestation of attaching importance to people is to talk about loving people, that is, caring for people and caring for them. This is also a fundamental content of human rights. Then this love of people is in Confucianism. Confucius said that "the benevolent person loves people" is to care for people and care for others. It also includes caring for yourself and all people, and this "love" or this "benevolence" has two manifestations, one is loyalty, and the other is forgiveness. Forgiveness is "do not do to others what you do not want to do to yourself", in fact It means not harming others, not harming others is a kind of obligation to others, then another manifestation of people is loyalty. Loyalty is "to stand up for oneself and to reach others", this is about helping others, Therefore, the contents of forgiveness and loyalty and human rights as two manifestations of human beings are consistent. This human right is the basic right of human beings, the subjective rights and responsibilities of human beings, and is universal to human beings, so it is in the existence of people who exist as nation-states today. It is reflected in different nation-states, ethnic groups Therefore, we cannot use the universality of human rights to deny the particularity of culture, and of course we cannot use the particularity of culture to deny the universality of human rights. , through mutual interpretation, creatively advancing the cause of human rights and the world of human rights.Editor/Ma Xue
