According to the "Announcement", the project site of the Lanzhou-Zhangjiakou Railway from Wuwei to Zhangye involves Liangzhou District of Wuwei City, Jinchuan District and Yongchang County of Jinchang City, Ganzhou District and Shandan County of Zhangye City, with a total area of 1,062.8992 hectares. The line leads from Wuwei East Station, crosses Jinchang Avenue and Jinwu Expressway to the north, crosses Beihe and enters Jinchang City, passes through Zhuwangbao Town to set up a station, extends north to Ningyuanbao Town to set up Jinchang South Station, and then goes west to Jiling. There is an existing Lanxin Line next to it, and the Shandan North Station is located on the north side of Shandan County. It turns west and passes through Dongle Township to introduce the Lanxin High-speed Railway Zhangye West Station. The total length of the line is 243.945 kilometers. The railway level is high-speed railway. The number of main lines is double. The design speed is 250 kilometers per hour. There are 5 intermediate stations and 2 motor car use stations.

The Lanzhou-Zhangjiakou 3rd and 4th line railway is a major project of the national 13th five-year railway development plan. It is the regional connection line of the land bridge channel of the national eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network. project. From Lanzhou West Station in Lanzhou City, through Wuwei City, Jinchang City, and finally into Zhangye West Station. In accordance with the requirement of "starting construction in sections and building the whole line simultaneously", on September 30, 2015, the first section of the Zhongchuan Intercity Railway was completed and put into use; in June 2019, the new Wushaoling Tunnel, the control project of the section from Zhongchuan Airport to Wuwei, was put into use.
