On April 15, 2022, the five photovoltaic power generation projects invested and constructed by the Yunnan Branch of Huaneng New Energy Co., Ltd. in Longyang District, Baoshan City, officially started construction.

The five photovoltaic power generation projects launched this time have a planned capacity of 1.038 million kilowatts and a total investment of about 6.2 billion yuan. The sites are distributed in Puzhen Town, Yangliu Township, Mangkuan Township and Wafang Township in Longyang District, with a total land area of about 2 million acres. At present, all five projects have completed the filing, preliminary procedures and construction preparations, and are scheduled to be put into production and power generation within the year. After the project is completed, the average annual power generation will be 1.75 billion kWh, the average annual output value will be 587 million yuan, the annual tax contribution will be about 80 million yuan, and 300 new jobs will be created.

According to reports, the 5 projects under construction this time, plus the 62,000-kilowatt Huaneng Xiyi East project in Longyang District, which will start construction in November 2021, will generate a total of 1.1 million kilowatts of electricity in the region. After all the grid-connected power generation at the end of the year, nearly 5 million tons of standard coal will be saved every year, which not only effectively supplements the energy supply of Baoshan City, but also relieves the environmental protection pressure of Baoshan’s power industry and promotes high-quality development of the local economy.
