Nestlé Pure Life and Yellow Door Energy have commissioned a solar power plant at Nestlé’s factory in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The project aims to generate 2,400 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable energy. It could be part of a 7 MW solar project that Nestlé announced in 2017 at its Dubai manufacturing facility. Neither company shared details on actual project capacity. Nestlé said the project will reduce carbon emissions and help achieve Nestlé's goal of becoming net-zero by 2050.
Yellow Door Energy, the solar lease provider, will also finance, design, build, operate and maintain the solar power plant throughout the lease term. Nestlé has installed more than 2,500 solar panels on carport structures at its factories. Nestlé said that the solar photovoltaic installations will be enough to meet 80% of the energy consumption of the Nestlé factory.
Nestlé said the carport structure is about six meters high. The entire installation provides shade for 72 delivery trucks in Nestlé Waters. The project also uses robots that regularly clean surface solar panels. The company says the aim is to maximize energy generation efficiency and optimize visual aesthetics.
Matthias Riehle, Executive Officer, Middle East and North Africa, Nestlé Waters, said: "The solar lease with Yellow Door Energy brings us one step closer to our commitment to provide renewable electricity to all of our facilities by 2025. Today, I am honoured to provide this The unveiling of the solar carport, which will generate 2,400 MWh of renewable electricity and reduce carbon emissions by one million kilograms per year. This is a key milestone in our exciting journey to net-zero emissions by 2050.” Keywords: Engineering Construction, Engineering News
Jeremy Crane, CEO and founder of Yellow Door Energy, said: “Solar energy is an integral part of any forward-thinking business looking to support sustainability and profitability. This is the third project between Yellow Door Energy and Nestlé, Our company looks forward to expanding and strengthening this partnership for many years to come. As a solar developer in the UAE, we are privileged to contribute to the UAE’s clean energy strategy and the Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative.”Editor/XingWentao
