On April 22, 2022, the catwalk of the Lingdingyang Bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel, which was built by the Second Aviation Administration of China Communications Construction Co., Ltd., was fully connected, and the air passage of the bridge was completed. The highest point of the catwalk is 270 meters from the sea surface, and the lowest point is 105 meters from the sea surface. It is the highest catwalk in Shanghai in the world.
"The structural stability and durability of the catwalk directly determine the safety and progress of the construction of the superstructure. The bridge is in an all-sea construction environment and faces severe weather such as typhoons. The project team carried out wind tunnel tests during the design of the catwalk to optimize and upgrade the scheme. While ensuring the static safety of the catwalk structure, it also has the corresponding wind resistance performance,” said Liao Wenlong, deputy production manager of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel Project Department of the Second Aviation Administration of CCCC.
It took 15 days from the preparation of the catwalk load-bearing cable to the completion of the catwalk surface net laying. In the follow-up, the Lingdingyang Bridge is about to be installed on the catwalk and the gantry, and the construction of the double-line reciprocating traction system required for the erection of the main cable is also under intense preparation. After the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Passage is completed and put into operation, the distance from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be shortened from the previous 2 hours to 20 minutes.Editor/Ma Xue
