On April 25, 2022, it was announced that the offshore installation of the main project of the "Haiji No. 1" platform, the first deepwater jacket platform in Asia designed and built by China, was completed, marking the manufacture and installation of China's deepwater super-large jacket platform equipment. The realization of high-level self-reliance and self-improvement through technology has important strategic significance for improving energy self-sufficiency rate and ensuring national energy security.

This offshore operation is located in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, which is more than 200 kilometers away from the southeast of Shenzhen and has a water depth of about 284 meters. The hoisting of the main blocks in the east and the west has been completed. The single weight exceeds 3,300 tons. Carry out hoisting operations for large marine equipment.

The "Haiji No. 1" platform is located on the main channel of the internal wave flow in the South China Sea. The offshore installation has very high requirements on the operating weather window and on-site command. In order to ensure the safe and efficient development of offshore operations, the project uses Asia's top crane vessel "Blue Whale" as the main operation vessel, and innovatively applies advanced technologies such as internal wave current early warning and ship motion monitoring to overcome large-amplitude internal wave currents and slow ship drift. The horizontal positioning accuracy of offshore installation is only 10 mm and the horizontal deviation is 1.5 meters, which is much higher than the design accuracy requirements. Yang Lianfeng, general contracting project manager of CNOOC Lufeng Oilfield Group Regional Development Project, said.

The "Haiji No. 1" platform is in service in the regional development project of oilfield clusters in the eastern South China Sea, and is scheduled to be put into production in the second half of 2022. After the oilfield cluster is fully put into operation, the peak daily crude oil production will reach 6,500 tons, which will inject new impetus into the economic and social development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and further improve China's energy security capability.Editor/Ma Xue
