The whole line of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal will be opened on April 14, 2022, and the entire line will be opened to water on the 28th. This is the first time that the entire line of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has been opened to water in a century.

The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which starts from Beijing in the north and ends in Hangzhou in the south, is the main artery connecting the north and the south of China, and has played an important role in the transportation of grain to the north in history. After entering the 20th century, the water transportation of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal stopped, and the Qing government stopped dredging the canal in an all-round way, and then some river sections were blocked. During the period of the Republic of China, although there was a project plan to comprehensively organize the canal, it was not implemented. After the founding of New China, the canal section south of the Yellow River played an important role in transportation, and the canal section north of the Yellow River received a series of renovations, but the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has never been fully watered.

At 10:00 on April 28, 2022, the control gate of the South Canal at the Sinv Temple Hub in Dezhou, Shandong was opened, and the water of Yuecheng Reservoir passed through the Wei Canal and merged with the water of the north extension project of the east line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the Yellow River Diversion Project, and entered the South Canal; located in Tianjin The South Canal Control Gate of Jiuxuanzha Hub in Jinghai District was opened, and the water from the south merged with the local water of Tianjin via the South Canal; before, the water of the North Canal and the local water of Tianjin merged with the water of the South Canal at the mouth of the Sancha River in Tianjin; so far, The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the entire water flow.Editor/Ma Xue
