Recently, the world's largest cable group - Baihetan Hydropower Station's cable group ended its five-year hoisting mission and officially began to dismantle it.

At present, the main project of Baihetan Hydropower Station has been completed, and the demand for the use of cable machines has decreased. According to the project construction arrangement, the seven cable machines of different colors traversing the sky above the Baihetan Dam, like the "seven fairies", have successfully completed their work tasks and entered the dismantling stage. 

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in a dry and hot valley, where strong winds of magnitude 7 and above can reach 240 days a year, and the wind can reach magnitude 13 at the maximum. The cable crane operation team successfully overcame the impact of bad weather, completed the lifting task with high quality and efficiency, and effectively guaranteed the construction safety and progress.

"The No. 7 cable cranes on the low line that were demolished first have been in safe operation so far, 26,000 units, and a total of 980,000 cubic meters of concrete has been hoisted. The work task has been successfully completed, and the demolition stage is officially entered. It is expected that the demolition will be completed in 90 days. , the remaining 6 cables will be dismantled step by step according to the needs of the project." said Pei Lei, engineer of the Baihetan Engineering and Construction Department of the Three Gorges Corporation.

Since it was officially put into operation in March 2017, Baihetan Hydropower Station has operated 229,800 cable units safely, with nearly 1 million round trips, and the equipment integrity rate is as high as 99.84%, and more than 30 million tons of materials and equipment have been lifted and transported accumulatively. , of which the hoisting volume of concrete reached 8.2792 million cubic meters, setting two world records for the safe operation time of similar machinery and the hoisting volume of concrete.Editor/Ma Xue
