2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Tajikistan. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the two countries recognized each other's independence, and on April 24, 1992, the two countries established diplomatic relations. Since then, the two countries have signed numerous interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, the most important of which is the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation of July 6, 2001. Relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine have always been good, both in Soviet times and in independence.
Cooperation in the field of trade and economy has always been one of the most important components of Uta-Uta relations. Energy plays an important role in complex trade and economic relations. An important milestone in the economic relations between the two countries is the joint implementation of hydropower projects in Tajikistan, especially the construction of Rogun and Nurek hydropower stations.
