Like Cai Lei, there are many Chinese young people working on the Belt and Road project in Serbia. Thanks to their hard work, each project has been transformed from design drawings to reality, bringing continuous impetus to local economic development. Cai Lei, 28, has been stationed abroad in Serbia for nearly two years. "Watching the power station rise from the ground and the equipment in place, my inner joy and sense of accomplishment are unparalleled."

What Cai Lei is talking about is one of the key projects of China-Serbia cooperation - the Serbian Kostorac power station project undertaken by SINOMACH. This is the first large-scale energy plant built in Serbia in the past 30 years. Safety is important.

Like Cai Lei, 24-year-old Xie Anni is also struggling for the construction of the second phase of the Kostorac power station. She works as a Serbian translator on the project site, and is most aware of the difficulties of working on the site. "Working overseas is actually different from what I imagined before," Annie Xie said. "In the rare 'high temperature week', I went to the scene to communicate and translate. In a windy day, my face was covered with cinders. When the epidemic was severe, it was minus ten degrees Celsius. The outdoor communication..."

However, after a year of on-site work, Annie Xie gradually adapted to the environment and continued to learn and improve herself. She said that working overseas can apply what she has learned, so that she can continuously improve in practice, and integrate the realization of personal value into the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Wan Yuxiao, who also learns Serbian, said that his wish is to "give full play to his expertise and build a bridge of communication between China and Serbia" to contribute to the development of the company and the "going out" of Chinese-funded enterprises.

Wan Yuxiao is a business executive at SINOMACH. He said that the change of work content, the thoughts of his family, the epidemic, etc. had made him feel difficult, but these difficulties did not stop him, "I never stop learning, and try my best to do better than myself the day before. better".

At present, the second phase of the Kostolac power station project is progressing smoothly. The data provided by SINOMACH shows that the overall completion of the second phase of the power station project is close to 80%, and the completion of the project will effectively improve the current situation of insufficient local power generation. The newly built B3 unit accounts for about 5% of Serbia's total installed capacity, which greatly improves the reliability and safety of power supply. In December 2021, Serbian President Vucic spoke highly of this project when he inspected the Kostorac power station. He said that after the new B3 unit is put into operation, Serbia's power system will be greatly strengthened, "all people will have electricity available".Editor/XuNing
