The town of Mahazaza is more than 50 kilometers away from Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. Nearly one-third of the more than 12,000 residents in the town make a living by raising hens and selling eggs. This is a veritable "egg village". However, the bumpy mountain road leading to the capital's egg market has caused egg farmers to complain.

In September 2018, Liu Lidong, a young man from Jiangxi Province in his early 30s, came here to serve as the chief engineer of the suburban highway project in the capital of Madagascar. More than three years have passed, and now, a 19-kilometer-long "egg road" assisted by the Chinese government has been opened to traffic. "It's a great sense of accomplishment when you find out that the bumpy mountain road has now become a smooth road where cars can go unimpeded. When the villagers give you their thumbs up as you pass by, it's a great sense of accomplishment." Liu Lidong couldn't hide his excitement. .

Liu Lidong graduated from Jiangxi Normal University Urban Construction College majoring in engineering management in 2010. After graduation, he joined Jiangxi China Coal Construction Group Co., Ltd. Before he came to Madagascar to build the "egg road", Liu Lidong had two working experiences in Africa. He worked in Kenya and Uganda as a well drilling water supply project constructor and as the deputy chief engineer and chief engineer of the highway project.

When he first arrived at the Madagascar project site, the young chief engineer first solved the housing problem for himself and his colleagues. Standing in front of the camp now consisting of three prefab houses and one brick house, Liu Lidong was filled with emotion. "When I first came here, it was still a forest. At that time, a dozen people had to live in a classroom in a school in the town. It took about two months to build the first house here."

After that, Liu Lidong faced the stumbling block of language again. The main local languages of communication are French and Malagasy, while Liu Lidong has only learned English and must rely on translators to communicate with local workers. "However, translation sometimes cannot be guaranteed to be 100% accurate, especially when it involves some technical details such as construction methods." In order to improve communication efficiency and reduce errors in information transmission, Liu Lidong needs to find pictures of some technical details on the Internet, and sometimes he needs to personally give workers to workers Demonstrate how to do construction work.

The new crown epidemic has also brought challenges to the construction of the "egg road". In order not to affect the construction progress, Liu Lidong and other project managers adjusted the construction organization plan in a timely manner, and at the same time actively sought alternative solutions to solve problems such as shortage of supplies of materials and equipment, and finally completed the project delivery as scheduled in early 2022. It is understood that after the "Egg Road" is put into use, it will run through the towns of Majic, Ambano Dokana and Mahazaza on the outskirts of the capital of Madagascar, helping egg-producing areas along the route to open up a fast lane to the urban area. The transport volume will reach 150,000. Keywords: One Belt One Road, One Belt One Road News, One Belt One Road Project

The mayor of Mahazaza Town said that the "egg road" built by the Chinese has greatly shortened the time for local egg farmers to transport eggs, and the good road conditions have also greatly reduced the breakage rate of eggs during road transportation. Today, many farmers are considering further expanding their chicken farms to produce and transport more eggs to all parts of the country.Editor/XuNing
