On May 6, 2022, the country's first 35kV low-frequency submarine cable successfully entered the sea at Shangdachen Island, Taizhou, Zhejiang. The submarine cable laid this time starts from Shangdachen Island and ends at Luqiao Jinqing. The time is from May 6th to 9th, a total of four days and three nights. The project is scheduled to be put into operation in June 2022.

The Taizhou 35kV Flexible Low-Frequency Transmission Demonstration Project is a national key scientific and technological project. The successful operation will become the first flexible low-frequency transmission project in China, and it will play a pioneering role in guiding the medium- and long-distance low-frequency transmission of large-scale offshore wind power.

The project realizes the flexible interconnection between Dachen Island and the mainland, and realizes the low-frequency transmission of wind turbines, so that the electric energy between the power grid on the mainland side and Dachen Island can be efficiently and mutually beneficial, and the high charging reactive power and high loss in the process of sending wind power through the submarine cable are improved. It is an active scientific and technological exploration and simulation practice, and it is also an important measure for the construction of Dachen Island as a global demonstration window for the national new power system.Editor/Ma Xue
