Ørsted and TotalEnergies have teamed up to bid for two wind farms, Hollandse Kust West VI and VII, in the Netherlands. The Hollandse KustWest wind farm is located approximately 53 kilometers off the coast of the Netherlands and has a total installed capacity of nearly 1.5 GW.

Ørsted and TotalEnergies said they would combine their respective strengths in these tenders with a view to contributing to the Netherlands' goal of developing more than 70 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050 for large-scale hydrogen generation. The successful construction of the Borssele 1&2 wind farm project on time and on budget during the global Covid-19 pandemic shows that Ørsted is a reliable partner for the green transition in the Netherlands.

Rasmus Errboe, Head of Continental Europe at Ørsted, said: “We are very pleased to be working with TotalEnergies on the upcoming Dutch tender. With our joint tender, we want to ensure that the Netherlands is able to operate in a state-of-the-art eco-friendly way and as an integrated energy system part of accelerating its offshore wind buildout in 2030 and beyond. Ørsted looks forward to making a significant contribution to the energy transition in the Netherlands together with TotalEnergies. "

Dutch energy transition accelerates

TotalEnergies will use its expertise in offshore operations to establish a unique position for the Dutch integrated energy company to decarbonize its industrial activities in the province of Zeeland through an investment plan for green energy and hydrogen production. TotalEnergies will also ensure the stability of the Dutch grid, while putting sustainability in all aspects at the heart of its projects, contributing to the well-being of people.

Olivier Terneaud, Vice President Offshore Wind at TotalEnergies, said: “The energy transition brings new challenges, both in terms of environmental impacts and integrating green energy into the power system, and it is to meet these challenges that we, together with Ørsted, are involved in these challenges. tender to support the energy transition in the Netherlands, we have leveraged over half a century of experience in Dutch offshore operations to be a reliable energy partner. As a global multi-energy company with sustainability at the heart of its strategy, we are delighted to be able to deliver on these innovations project."

The HKWVI tender proposal will change the relationship between wind farms and ecology. With its measures, unprecedented monitoring program and close cooperation with companies, institutions, universities and NGOs, it focuses on working with international and local parties to accumulate the necessary knowledge to enable new breakthroughs in wind farm development.

Zeeland is the largest hydrogen group in the Netherlands. With 600 MW of electrolysis capacity, the world's largest green hydrogen swarm will be possible by 2027, powered only by wind farms on the west coast of the Netherlands. Supplemented by e-mobility, batteries, direct electrification of the industry, etc. for maximum system integration. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news
