After three and a half years of construction, this new landmark has risen from the ground outside the Third Ring Road in the southwest of Beijing. As the first large-scale station designed with a double-decker yard in China and the largest railway hub passenger station in Asia, the station building of Beijing Fengtai Station adopts a layout of four floors above ground and three floors underground.

Overlooking from a high altitude, the station has a unique shape of "中" as a whole; the interior decoration of the station is made of yellow pottery panels with wheat ears, which means "bumper harvest, festivity and brilliance"; the interior decoration has a distinct modern industrial style; the caisson ceiling and bell and drum tower in the waiting area are shaped , so that passengers can feel the strong cultural elements of Beijing while waiting for the bus.

Laofengtai Station

In 1895, the Qing government built the Jinlu Railway and built it to Fengtai by the end of the year. Fengtai Station thus became the earliest railway station in Beijing. In 1897, Fengtai Station was connected to the Luhan Railway. In 1909, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway was completed, and the starting station was also at Fengtai Station. So far, Fengtai Station has become the meeting point and joint rail station of the three main railway lines.

After the founding of New China, as an important gateway to the capital, Fengtai Station is the meeting point of several major railway lines such as Jinghan, Jingshan and Jingbao, and an important transportation hub in North China.

However, with the progress of the times and the development of railways, this railway station, which was once very important in terms of historical significance and geographical location, has entered a bottleneck period of development.

In June 2010, 115 years after the establishment of the station, the century-old station announced the suspension of passenger transportation, luggage and other services. At the same time, the concept of transforming Fengtai Station into a modern comprehensive transportation hub and readjusting the capacity layout in southwest Beijing is slowly unfolding.
