On May 16, 2022, the official website of Wuxi Metro released the "Draft for Public Comments on the Environmental Impact Assessment Report of the Phase I Project of Wuxi-Yixing Intercity Rail Transit".

According to reports, the first phase of the Wuxi-Yixing intercity rail transit project starts from Yixing Station and ends at the west bank of Zhushan Lake. The total length of the line is about 30km. There are Yixing Station, Longtan Road Station, Dongji Square, University Town Station, and Jingkai Station along the road. District Station and Zhoutie Station, a total of 6 stations will be constructed, including 4 underground stations and 2 elevated stations. In addition, the first phase of the Wuxi-Yixing Intercity Rail Transit Project will set up a depot near the University Town Station. At the same time, one traction power substation will be set up at the Economic Development Zone Station, one substation will be set up at Yixing Station, and one opening and closing station will be set up in the vehicle depot.

The vehicle adopts the urban C-type car, with 4 groups, and the designed maximum speed is 160km/h. The total investment of the project is 15.716 billion yuan, and the planned total construction period is about 60 months. The train operation time is arranged from 5:00 to 23:00, with a total of 18 hours of operation. The initial stage of engineering design is 2028, the near-term is 2035, and the long-term is 2050.
