On June 8, 2022, President Zaparov of Kyrgyzstan presses the start button for the construction of Kambar-Ata 1 hydropower station.

Zaparov said: "We have launched the construction of one of the largest hydropower plants in Central Asia, which will ensure energy security and independence of the Kyrgyz State! Energy is a strategic industry of the country's economy and the core of economic growth and sustainable development. Today, increasing The task of energy capacity is very urgent.”

It is reported that the hydropower station is located in the middle reaches of the Naryn River and is the largest power facility in the entire Kambar-Ata hydropower station complex. The No. 1 hydropower station has an installed capacity of about 1,900 megawatts and an annual power generation capacity of 5.6 billion kWh. The reservoir has a water storage capacity of 4.65 billion cubic meters, which can seasonally adjust the water volume of the Naren River.

The total cost of the No. 1 hydropower plant is estimated at US$2,916.6 million, and the construction consists of six phases, financed by the state budget and investment from businessmen.Editor/Ma Xue
