A few days ago, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the continuation project of Units 3 and 4 and the restoration project of Unit 9 of the Kaienji Hydropower Station in Nigeria, which were contracted by the East China Institute of Power China. important meaning.

Kaienji Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower project in Nigeria, located in the Niger River Basin, with a total installed capacity of 760 MW. The project includes the installation of two 110-megawatt hydro-generator units in the existing No. 3 and 4 empty pits, and the repair of the No. 9 hydro-generator unit. After the project is completed, the installed capacity of the power station will reach 980 MW.

Nigeria's population is expected to reach 400 million by 2050, and there is a huge electricity demand gap. The project is of great significance for alleviating the electricity demand gap in Nigeria and promoting the transition to clean energy. This is the second time that the East China Institute has provided hydropower station renovation services for the Kaienji Hydropower Station.
