The China-Thailand Cooperation Forum will be held online and offline on June 15, 2022. The conference is co-hosted by the RCEP Industrial Cooperation Committee, the China-ASEAN Business Council and the Thai Embassy in China. The main venue in Beijing is located at the Thai Embassy in China. .

Thai Ambassador to China Atayo Xisam said in his speech that 2022 is the tenth anniversary of the upgrading of Thailand-China relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Taking this opportunity, the two sides should work together to maintain Thailand-China relations for ten years. Continuously develop momentum and carry forward. Economic cooperation is at the core of the relationship between Thailand and China. Before the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, China was Thailand's largest source of tourists. In 2021, China will be Thailand's second largest source of direct investment.

Atayut pointed out that in order to promote Thailand-China economic cooperation to be at the forefront of China and ASEAN, and to better match the Thailand-China strategic partnership, the two sides should expand the areas of cooperation to better adapt to the changes in the current world pattern.

The Belt and Road Brings Opportunities to Both Countries

Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang said in his speech that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good brothers and good partners. The two countries have joined hands to fight the new crown epidemic, jointly promote economic recovery, and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has continued to develop. "China and Thailand are one family" deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. China-Thailand economic and trade relations have formed a multi-level, multi-channel and all-round cooperation pattern. In 2021, the bilateral trade volume between China and Thailand will be about 131.2 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 33%. The two countries have vigorously carried out the Belt and Road connectivity construction, and achieved outstanding results in cooperation in infrastructure, industrial investment, digital economy, agriculture and other fields. With the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the opening of the China-Laos high-speed railway, especially with the deepening of the respective economic development strategies of China and Thailand, China-Thailand mutually beneficial cooperation is facing new historic opportunities.

Xu Ningning, executive director of the China-ASEAN Business Council and chairman of the RCEP Industrial Cooperation Committee, said in his speech that the meeting aims to enhance bilateral cooperation, jointly cope with the current international situation and unfavorable factors in the global economy, jointly develop business opportunities for bilateral cooperation, and help Develop together.

Xu Ningning put forward five suggestions on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries:

The first is to speed up connectivity, deepen the joint construction of the Belt and Road with development strategies such as "Thailand 4.0" and "Eastern Economic Corridor", speed up the construction of China-Thailand railway cooperation, and speed up the connection of product standard certification. Facilitate the exchange of goods.

The second is to strengthen industrial cooperation, establish a cooperation mechanism for the main industries of the two countries, improve the cooperation level of industry chambers of commerce and associations, create a new industrial chain with complementary advantages through industrial cooperation, and promote the development of digital economy, green economy and small and medium-sized enterprises through industrial cooperation.

The third is to increase two-way investment, expand the scale of investment and drive the expansion of trade scale. Currently, relevant parties in the two countries, including local governments and industry business associations, hold online and offline investment promotion project promotion meetings.

Fourth, the enterprises of both sides make good use of the free trade agreement policy, especially the RCEP policy, and the enterprises of the two sides cooperate to develop the two countries' markets, regional markets and even the international market.

Fifth, deepen bilateral people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation, including cooperation in tourism, culture, media, youth, think tanks and other fields, to further consolidate the social foundation for the consolidation and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.Editor/XuNing
