Jiangsu Environmental Protection Public Network recently issued an announcement for the second public announcement of the environmental impact assessment of the newly built Nantong-Ningbo high-speed railway (Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway). The reporter noticed that this is the second time since the first EIA announcement of Tongsu-Jiayong High-speed Railway in April 2021. This means that it is one step closer to the start of construction of the Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway.

The EIA document shows that the newly built Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway is located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, with a vertical layout, connecting Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in the north and south, starting from Nantong West Station in the north, crossing the Yangtze River in the south (using the fourth-line bridge between Shanghai and Tong), and passing through After Suzhou City and Zhejiang Jiaxing City, it crosses Hangzhou Bay and enters Ningbo City. The total length of the project is 310 kilometers, the length of the new line is about 300 kilometers, and the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour.

According to previously released news, the Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway will have 10 stations on the whole line. It is planned to start construction in 2022, and the total construction period of the project is 5 years. The 10 stations are Nantong West Station, Zhangjiagang Station, Changshu West Station, Suzhou North Station, Suzhou South Station, Jiaxing North Station, Jiaxing South Station, Haiyan West Station, Cixi Station, and Zhuangqiao Station.

As a key vertical high-speed rail channel in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, the Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed rail is of great significance. At present, to travel from Suzhou to Jiaxing and Hangzhou by high-speed rail, you need to go eastward to Shanghai and detour, while to go from Shanghai to Ningbo, you need to go west and detour from Hangzhou first. Between Suzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, there is a "Z" Zigzag high-speed rail lines, no network. After the opening of the Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway, a high-speed railway network in southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang will be built, which will significantly speed up the connection between cities. From a broader perspective, the Tongsu-Jiayong high-speed railway will also become an important part of my country's coastal high-speed railway in the future.
