On the morning of June 21, 2022, with the smooth completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway No. 2 tunnel in Indonesia, important progress has been made in the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. All 13 tunnels along the line have been connected, laying a solid foundation for the completion and opening to traffic in June 2023.

Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway connects the Indonesian capital Jakarta and the fourth largest city Bandung, with a total length of 142 kilometers and a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Factors and the entire industry chain are being built overseas. A total of 13 new tunnels have been built for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, with a total length of 16,643 meters. The geology of the area where the tunnel is located has the characteristics of clay, soft mud, sandstone and thin covering soil, which can easily lead to unstable tunnel structure, deformation, landslides and other problems, and the construction is difficult and the safety risk is high.

The tunnel No. 2 to be penetrated this time is located in Purwakarta County, West Java, Indonesia, with a total length of 1,052 meters and a maximum buried depth of 53.6 meters. It is one of the most difficult control projects to construct across the board.

According to reports, since the full-scale construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway in 2018, China Railway International Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Railway Group Co., Ltd., has led the Chinese construction consortium to actively overcome the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. Construction personnel and machinery entered the site for operation, optimized construction organization, innovated technological construction methods, and strengthened safety and quality control to ensure the smooth penetration of 13 tunnels.

At present, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway tunnel has been fully penetrated, and the culvert project has been completed. The completion of the subgrade, bridge, and station civil works is more than 90%. The construction of the project has been transferred to the stage of laying and frame construction, mainly for box girder erection and ballastless track laying. and other operations to create conditions for the completion and opening of the entire line.

After the completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project, the travel time from Jakarta to Bandung will be shortened from the current 3 hours to 40 minutes. very important meaning. Editor/He Yuting
