A few days ago, the membrane structure of Xi'an International Football Center was successfully hoisted for the first time. This is another important construction progress following the successful completion of cable-net traction and tension on May 20, 2022, marking the world's first double-layer orthogonal cable-membrane structure with a central opening. Entering the final construction stage also marks the final "big test" for the roof system featuring the combination of rigidity and flexibility, and the outer rigidity and inner flexibility.
At the hoisting site, the first film weighing about 1 ton was slowly and smoothly lifted during the synchronous operation of four hoisting equipment, and finally reached the predetermined height after 20 minutes, achieving smooth lifting. It is understood that each membrane will be installed and calibrated for 1-2 days after being lifted, such as tensioning, fastening connection, and node processing, and finally presents a saddle-shaped cable-membrane joint stress system.
This project adopts imported PTFE membrane material, which has the characteristics of high strength, good durability, fire and flame resistance, good self-cleaning, light weight, high reflectivity and low absorption rate of sunlight. The total number of membranes is 60, and the total weight is about 60 tons. The largest single membrane is about 173 meters long from north to south and about 6 meters wide, which is extremely difficult to install.
The project department carefully planned, carefully organized, used BIM to simulate the construction, formulated the optimal plan, made technical and safety disclosures to the on-site personnel, and re-checked the site's mechanical equipment and safety measures such as "cat lanes" before construction.
