On June 29, 2022, the Hunan Anhua pumped storage power station project officially started construction in Yiyang.

According to reports, Hunan Anhua pumped storage power station project is located in Xianxi Town, Anhua County, and is a key energy construction project in the 14th Five-Year Plan of the state and Hunan Province. The project has a designed installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts and an annual power generation capacity of 2.6 billion kilowatt-hours, ranking second in China and first in central China. The total investment of the Anhua pumped-storage power station project is 15.1 billion yuan, with an estimated construction period of 78 months.

In the future, after the completion of the Anhua pumped storage power station project, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase regulation, emergency backup and other tasks of the Hunan Province power system. The power supply structure of the system improves the utilization rate of clean energy and the capacity of power transmission and consumption outside the district, ensures the safe and stable operation of the power grid, and provides safe and reliable power support for the high-quality development of Yiyang City and even Hunan Province.
