Fujian Minjiang mainstream flood control project started
- The project is about 145.1 kilometers of new and upgraded embankments (revetments)

On June 29, 2022, the first project of the Sanming Section of the flood control and upgrading project of the main stream of the Minjiang River in Fujian Province started construction in Sanyuan District, Sanming City.
Minjiang Main Stream Flood Control Improvement Project
The flood control improvement project on the main stream of the Minjiang River involves Cangshan District, Minhou County, Fuzhou City, Sanyuan District, Shaxian District, Yongan City, Qingliu County, Ninghua County and Youxi County of Sanming City, with a total construction period of 48 months. The construction content includes about 145.1 kilometers of new and upgraded embankments (revetments), of which about 56.1 kilometers of new embankments, about 46 kilometers of upgraded and reconstructed embankments, and about 43 kilometers of new revetments; 7 new sluice gates, 1 dry gate, 2 pumping stations, One flood gate and two gate station equipment renovations, with an estimated total investment of 4.95 billion yuan. After the completion of the flood control improvement project on the main stream of the Minjiang River, the flood control and drainage engineering system in county-level urban areas and important townships along the main stream of the Minjiang River will be further improved.
According to reports, the flood control and upgrading project of the main stream of the Minjiang River is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects deployed and implemented by the State Council, and it is also one of the 55 major water conservancy projects that the Ministry of Water Resources will focus on promoting in 2022. After the completion of the pilot project of the Sanming section of the flood control and upgrading project of the main stream of the Minjiang River in Fujian, the regional flood control standards and waterlogging control standards can be improved, and the regional flood control and drainage system will be further improved.
