Utility giant Endesa is building 27 renewable energy projects in Spain with a capacity of more than 1,130 megawatts. Green energy projects are being developed through subsidiary EGPE. In 2022, the company employs more than 4,200 professionals on these renewable energy facilities.
The company's renewable energy construction manager Luca Capuozzo said that solar and wind projects are mainly built in the regions of Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Andalusia, and their goal is to achieve the goals set by yourself. Ensuring that all Endesa products are 100% renewable by 2040.
Spain's energy transition
According to Endesa, by the end of 2024, it hopes to develop 12.300 megawatts of solar, wind and hydro power. By the end of 2024, renewable energy expansion will drive 92% of electricity production in the Iberian Peninsula to be CO2-free. It will also further advance Endesa's goal of becoming an emissions-free entity by 2040.
Endesa's renewable energy projects are built under a shared value creation approach, which looks to integrate projects with the environment and enhance their value to local communities through collaborative efforts. Endesa says it has trained more than 4,000 people with the help of town/city councils that host renewable energy projects. Endesa has commissioned TICOWIND, its largest wind farm in Spain, with a capacity of 180 MW in Aragon. Two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 77 MW near the wind farm are about to be built.
In Extremadura, Endesa is building up to five renewable energy projects: Agripa, Alaudae, Gemina. Tierra de Badaioz and Torrecilla, each with a capacity of 49.5 MW. Likewise, in Casas de DonPedro, Talarrubias and Logrosan, the company has combined solar panels with grazing sheep. This new technology helps to naturally clear fields and boost agricultural power generation.Editor/XingWentao
