The European Union has provided Egypt with a grant of 117.9 million euros to support the Egyptian government's water and energy budget, the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation said in a statement. Rania Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt, said the grant is based on the EU-Egypt partnership framework and promotes the country's green transition with Egypt during the hosting of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Consistent with the goal of developing eco-friendly projects.
According to Mashat, water and energy are priorities for the Egyptian government and play an important role in maintaining Egypt's economic growth and strengthening sustainable development. The Egyptian government is promoting sustainable management of the country's water resources by expanding desalination and wastewater treatment projects.
On June 19, Egyptian Foreign Minister Shukeri and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell jointly signed the EU-Egypt Partnership Priority Agreement in Luxembourg. At present, the total amount of cooperation projects between Egypt and the EU has reached 1.3 billion euros.
