From July 25 to 26, 2022, Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited Beijing for two days at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. The two heads of state met and issued a joint statement. The statement mentioned that Premier Li Keqiang and Joko Widodo held talks in a friendly atmosphere. The two sides had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on China-Indonesia relations and international and regional issues of common concern, and reached a series of important consensuses.

The two heads of state spoke positively of the achievements of the two countries in the fight against COVID-19 and economic recovery. Indonesia wishes the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China a complete success; China wishes Indonesia to achieve its goal of becoming a developed country in 2045. The two heads of state believed that the relationship between the two countries has great strategic significance and far-reaching global influence, and agreed to establish the general direction of jointly building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

The statement continued that during the visit, the two countries renewed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Ocean Fulcrum Concept, and signed joint research on vaccines and genes, green development, information exchange and law enforcement, cybersecurity capacity building, oceans, and the export of Indonesian pineapples to China. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in joint research and development and production of vaccines and genes, and assist Indonesia in building a regional vaccine center.

The two countries will implement the consensus reached at the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations, promote open regionalism, and strengthen the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership dedicated to peace, security, prosperity and sustainable development. China reiterates its support for ASEAN's centrality in the regional architecture, supports Indonesia's role as ASEAN's rotating presidency in 2023, and is committed to strengthening multilateralism. Indonesia attaches importance to global security initiatives and is willing to work with China to maintain peace and stability through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
