On July 25, 2022, a consortium composed of Wuhan Investment Company, Construction Group, China Communications Second Aviation Administration and Tianchuang Municipal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hanyang Municipal, successfully won the bid for the PPP project of Jianghan Ten Bridges and supporting facilities. The amount is about 2.8 billion yuan, and the cooperation period is 23 years, of which the construction period is 3 years and the operation period is 20 years.

Project Overview

The project is located between Changfeng Bridge and Gutian Bridge. It starts from Shihu Road, Huangjinkou Avenue in the west, and ends at Changyun Road, Gutian 1st Road, in the east. The total length of the line is about 4123 meters. Han port wiring composition. Among them, the main bridge spanning the Han River is 855 meters long, and it is a 380-meter-span under-supported simply supported steel box basket arch bridge. The Hanyang shore connection needs to dismantle the existing Budweiser viaduct for 280 meters and rebuild it. The main line includes the connection viaduct of about 1270 meters, the ground main line of 155 meters, with 6 lanes in both directions; the ground auxiliary road of 1405 meters, with 4 to 6 lanes in both directions; it is near Budweiser Road. A pair of new upper and lower bridge ramps will be built on both sides of the Third Ring Road, with a total length of about 550 meters, which is a one-way two-lane. The main line of the Hankou port connection includes a 190-meter connection viaduct with 6 lanes in both directions; the main ground line is 1,463 meters, with 6 to 8 lanes in both directions; and the auxiliary road on the ground is 424 meters, with 4 lanes in both directions.

Construction scope

The main construction contents of the project include roads, bridges, drainage, transportation, greening, lighting and related supporting works, etc. At the same time, a power tunnel of about 1,300 meters needs to be built between Gutian Road and Changyun Road. Among them, the large-span jacking construction of the 389-meter steel box girder is the key and difficult point of the construction of the main bridge across the Han River. At the same time, the project also faces huge management challenges in pipeline relocation, traffic relief, interface management, and environmental protection.

According to the design unit China Railway Bridge Institute, the main bridge spanning the Han River is 855 meters long. In addition, the main bridge of the Tenth Jianghan Bridge ranks second in the domestic span of the under-supported simply supported steel box tied arch bridge, and the X-type parallel structure is used for the first time in the extra-large-span arch bridge.
