The field engineering of the Dabie Mountains Diversion from Huaihe Water Supply and Irrigation Project undertaken by China Energy China Gezhouba Three Gorges Construction Company has now entered the construction organization design review stage. The land acquisition and demolition, project bidding and other work have been fully started.

The Dabie Mountain Water Supply and Irrigation Project is located in the core development area of the Dabie Mountain Revolutionary Old Area, including the three areas of Xidong, Huaibin and Xishilong in Xixian County and Huaibin County in Xinyang City. The total length of the project construction channel is 545 kilometers, and there are 5,731 buildings along the project, involving metal structure, equipment installation, building decoration, electrical and other professional projects. The construction content includes the construction of branch canals, bucket canals, and agricultural canals on the basis of the backbone projects, and lining and reinforcement of some channels. According to the needs of the project, construction of buildings and roads along the line and improvement of green planting on both sides of the road have been completed. Construction drawing design, supervision and bidding and other related preparations are planned to be completed in June 2024.The Dabieshan Revolutionary Old Area Diversion Huaihe Water Supply and Irrigation Project is the first major water conservancy project implemented after General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Henan to go deep into the Xinyang Revolutionary Old Area. The total investment of the project is 5 billion yuan. After completion, it will form the layout of the Huaihuai water supply and irrigation project controlled by the Huaigan Xixian hub and the urban water supply and irrigation canal system as the backbone, and further improve the comprehensive utilization of water resources in the old revolutionary base area.
