EDF Group and Budimex for the realization of investments in the development of offshore wind farms in Poland. The two companies will focus on the second phase of the country's offshore development in a 50/50 ratio. In the second phase, EDF Renewables has identified 11 new sites for the development of offshore wind farms in the Polish region of the Baltic Sea. The 11 sites identified are expected to have a combined capacity of 11GW.

The development of offshore wind farms will support Poland's energy transition and create new energy sources in the country, while reducing its reliance on coal power generation. Budimex has become the largest general contractor for infrastructure projects in Poland. The company is a subsidiary of Ferrovial, an engineering and infrastructure company based in Spain.

EDF Renewables has submitted several applications for subsea licences to develop offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. The collaboration aims to capitalise on the strengths of both companies and to secure a site selection permit based on an application submitted by EDF Renewables UK Ltd. Budimex intends to become more involved in the country's energy transition while expanding its reach.

Artur Popko, President of the Budimex Group, said: "The energy transition is happening right here and now. It has huge potential and we want to be an active player in the renewable energy market. Our goal is to be energy self-sufficient by 2026. Thanks to our team's Commitment and introduction of innovative solutions, all energy can be sourced from renewable sources. Keywords: Engineering News, Overseas News
