0BB Train Tech has announced that it will invest around 600 million euros in its business. This will include the expansion and modernization of 22 plants in Austria, as well as the hiring of 1,000 new employees over the next five years. The company has used around 470 million euros of this funding for major modernization projects at its Vienna, Linz, St. Polten, Knittelfeld and Innsbruck plants. This will allow 0BB Train Tech to better service and maintain today's modern longer trains.

Sandra Gott-Karlbauer, managing director of 0BB Train Tech, said: "The expansion of the fleet and the ordering of new trains also requires expansion and modernization of technical maintenance in the background. With our 4,000 employees, we ensure the maintenance of 22,000 trains and the refurbishment of 700,000 components. In order to be as future-ready as possible, we are investing heavily in our locations and our colleagues.

An additional 100 million euros will be used to expand the halls and workshops of the site. This includes extending the new hall by a further 235 meters. The company's Floridsdorf plant in Vienna will receive an investment of 80 million euros to expand the site to provide maintenance services for the new double-decker push-pull trains.

At 0BB Train Tech's plant in Linz, funds are being invested in the modernization of machinery used for bogie production and wheelset refurbishment, while investments are also planned for locomotive maintenance in Linz and plant modernization and expansion in Knittelfeld.
