Construction will be carried out by the HPH consortium under a $2.06 billion design, build and financing contract signed in February 2020. The first phase will run from Albrook to Pudura City, carrying around 160,000 passengers. The line will reduce the average travel time during peak hours from 1 hour 30 minutes to 45 minutes and will have 14 stops. The 34km second phase of La Chorrera is also planned.
French infrastructure specialist Colas has won a contract to design, supply and install 100 kilometers of rail for Panama Metro Line 3. The monorail will connect stations between Ciudaddel Futuro and Panama Pacifico, with a maintenance station at Ciudaddel Futuro. Colas Rail is a subcontractor to Hitachi Rail, and work on the project is expected to take over 30 months.
