At 11:28 on August 9, 2022, the left hole of the Qishan Tunnel of Hengyong Expressway was successfully completed, and the right hole of the tunnel is expected to be completed in October 2022.

The Qishan Tunnel is the key control project of the Hengyong Expressway project and the only long tunnel on the entire line. It is designed as a separate two-lane tunnel, the left line is 2550 meters long, the right line is 2630 meters long, the net width of a single hole is 11.75 meters, and the net height is 5 meters. The terrain along the way is undulating, the slope is steep, and the geological structure is complex.

Hengyong Expressway starts from Yumu Village, Yumushan Town, Zhengxiang District, Hengyang City. The starting point is connected to Xuguang Expressway. The route extends to the southwest, traversing Zhengxiang District, Hengnan County, Qidong County, Qiyang City, and Lengshuitan District. Maping Village on the north side of Lengshuitan District intersects with Erguang Expressway, and then connects to Yongling Expressway. The total length of the line is 106.227 kilometers. It adopts the standard of two-way four-lane expressway. The designed driving speed is 120 kilometers per hour and the width of the roadbed is 26.5 meters.
