Recently, the excavation of the tunnel spillway of the flood discharge system of the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station, a national key project constructed by the CRCC Bridge Bureau and the controlled reservoir in the upper reaches of the Dadu River, has been completed. This is the world's largest discharge tunnel under construction. So far, all the four caverns of the flood discharge system of the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station have been transferred to the construction of high-strength impact-resistant and wear-resistant concrete.
Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station is located in Malkang City and Jinchuan County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The power station project is large in scale and complex in geological conditions.
The project's flood discharge system has a tunnel-type spillway in the shape of a city gate, with a total length of 1,818 meters, a maximum excavation section of 19.3 meters wide x 27.75 meters high, and a cross-sectional area of 516 square meters.
The Dadu River Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station is a key project in China's western development and one of the main water intake points for the west route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. After completion, the main stream of the Dadu River can increase the dry season electricity by 6.6 billion kwh each year, and significantly improve the flood control capacity of the downstream towns.Editor/Ma Xue
