Brazil's state-owned oil company Petrobras, through its subsidiary Keppel Shipyard, awarded Keppel Offshore & Marine an EPC contract worth $2.9 billion.

Under the contract, Keppel O&M will provide engineering, procurement and construction of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel called the P-80. Following the FPSOP-78 currently under construction at Keppel Shipyard, KeppelO&M will build the P-80 as the second FPSO at Petrobras' Buzios field.

The P-80 will have the capacity to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day, process up to 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, and store more than 1.6 million barrels per day. Construction of its P-80 is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, and once completed, it is expected to be Brazil's largest oil production platform.

Profitable Keppel O&M and our partners. Our first project of its kind in the Buzios field, the P-78, was built on this operating model. It is on schedule and within budget, And has been contributing to the earnings of Keppel O&M.

Based on our experience with the P-78, we believe we can further improve the efficiency and economy of the P-80 and create a large number of jobs in Brazil and thousands of jobs in the country. FPSOP-80 marks the ninth unit to be installed on site and will incorporate advanced features to reduce CO2 emissions. It will utilize closed flare technology, which prevents the gas from burning into the atmosphere; and a methane gas detection system to reduce the risk of leaks.

Keppel O&M intends to carry out the contract's design and engineering work through its facilities in Singapore, Brazil, China and India. It aims to manufacture top modules weighing around 47,000 metric tons (MT) at its plants in Singapore, China and Brazil. The company plans to complete the integration and commissioning work in Singapore. In addition, KeppelO&M intends to complete the final phase of offshore commissioning work after the FPSO is brought to the Buzios field. Keywords: engineering news, overseas news
