The pumped storage project will further promote the realization of the dual-carbon goal. From August 24 to 26, 2022, the review meeting of the feasibility study report of Guangdong Luhe (Sanjiangkou) Pumped Storage Power Station was held in Shanwei City.

Luhe (Sanjiangkou, Shanwei) pumped storage power station is located in Luhe County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, with a straight-line distance of about 55km and 210km from Shanwei City and Guangzhou City, respectively. The pivot project is mainly composed of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, underground water transmission power generation system and ground switch station. The main dam of the upper reservoir adopts a concrete face rockfill dam, and the dam of the lower reservoir adopts a roller compacted concrete gravity dam.

Luhe (Sanjiangkou, Shanwei) Pumped Storage Power Station is a key implementation project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the "Mid- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035)". The installed capacity of the power station is 1400MW. After the project is completed, it will undertake tasks such as peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase regulation, emergency backup and black start of the Guangdong power system.
