Trevi Arabian Soil Contractor, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian underground engineering specialist Trevi Group, has said it has begun work on permanent foundation works for TheLine, a key component of the $500 billion Neom City project under construction in Tabuk area.

In a statement, Trevi Group said that the Trevi Arabian Soils contractor began foundation works after completing the test piles to determine the best execution technique to carry out the project. The company explained that it is deploying high-end Soilmec equipment for foundation works. The diameter of the piles is said to vary from 1.5m to 2.5m, while the excavation distance from the working surface can be up to 70m.

Trevi also said that Soilmec SR-90 and SR-100 equipment are currently operating in the field, with plans for SR-115/SR-125 and SR-135 in the near future. The company clarified that it currently employs around 150 people on site, but will increase to 250 once the construction site is at full capacity. Big Project Middle East will host its inaugural Building Intel Summit – KSA on November 23rd in Riyadh.

Neom is expected to have a population of 9 million and will consist of a series of communities built along a straight line. The line will stretch 170 kilometers inland from the Red Sea in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It will travel through deserts and mountains. The line is said to have two different underground levels for high-speed rail and infrastructure, as the above-ground areas will be green spaces for residents and sidewalks, not cars.
