On the morning of September 7, 2022, Shenghong Chemical's new material project officially started construction in Lianyungang Xuwei New District. It is reported that after the project is fully put into operation, it will help the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base to build the world's largest supply base of high-end photovoltaic grade EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer chemicals), making positive contributions to the development of green energy and the acceleration of the "dual carbon" process.

Shenghong Chemical New Material Project

As a major project in Jiangsu Province in 2022, Shenghong Chemical New Material Project has a total investment of about 21.6 billion yuan, and plans to build 700,000 tons/year of EVA, as well as PO/SM (large-scale refining and chemical technology) and polyols, high-end polyolefins and other projects. The EVA project started this time mainly includes three sets of 200,000 tons/year tubular photovoltaic grade EVA units, a set of 100,000 tons/year autoclave method high-end hot melt adhesive grade EVA units and a set of 50,000 tons/year high-end EVA units. It is understood that photovoltaic-grade EVA has high production barriers, long production expansion cycles, and many restrictions on production conversion. China's photovoltaic-grade EVA import dependence exceeds 60%. After the project is fully put into operation, the annual production capacity of EVA in the Lianyungang Petrochemical Base will be expanded to one million tons. The products can greatly replace imported EVA products and provide a stable guarantee for the country's clean energy transformation. At the same time, the high-end hot melt adhesive grade EVA, 110KV ultra-clean LDPE (low density polyethylene) cable material products and EnBA and its derivative products produced by the project will fill the domestic gap, provide support for the development of China's high-end polymer industry, and help China Electronic information, automobile manufacturing, aerospace and other industries.
