On September 22, 2022, Zhang Jianhua, Director of China's National Energy Administration, presided over the 7th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting in Beijing via video. Zhang Jianhua said that the BRICS countries have gone through a glorious journey of 16 years together. Along the way, the BRICS countries have strengthened each other and have become a key force affecting the evolution of the international pattern, and their voice and influence in global governance have steadily increased. Energy cooperation is an important area of practical cooperation among BRICS countries. The BRICS countries work together to address risks and challenges, promote the establishment of a reliable, stable and affordable energy supply system, and jointly maintain an open, transparent and efficient international energy market, which is of great significance to the global economy.

The meeting fully exchanged and shared the energy development of various countries, discussed the future development direction of the BRICS energy research and cooperation platform, and reached broad consensus on further deepening energy cooperation among BRICS countries, promoting green and low-carbon transformation of energy, and deeply participating in global energy issues. The meeting adopted the Communiqué of the Seventh BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting, and released the BRICS Energy Report 2022, the BRICS Renewable Energy Report 2022 and the BRICS Smart Grid Report 2022.

The Minister of Mines and Energy of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Minister of State of the Ministry of Electricity and Heavy Industry of the Republic of India, and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of South Africa attended the meeting.
