At 19:00 on March 25, 2022, the hoisting of the dome was successfully completed for Unit 2 of the Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project of CGNPC, marking the project's full transition from the civil construction stage to the equipment installation stage. The dome of Taipingling Nuclear Power Unit 2 has a half-open bowl-shaped structure, which is composed of embedded parts, steel plates and angle steel welded on the outside. Safety systems and control systems are installed inside.

The hoisting process lasted for more than 2 hours. The dome with a weight of 225.844 tons and an area equivalent to 4 standard basketball courts was hoisted to an altitude of 70 meters. , yaw under the influence of wind, thermal expansion and contraction under temperature changes are all challenges that the project team has to deal with.

The Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project plans to build 6 Hualong No. 1 nuclear power units, and the first phase of the two units will start construction in 2019 and 2020 respectively. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation can reach 50 billion kWh, which can reduce 15.12 million tons of standard coal consumption and 41.6 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, which is equivalent to afforestation of 113,000 hectares.Editor/Ma Xue
