Recently, the environmental assessment of the Ankang to Chongqing section of the West-Chongqing high-speed Railway was officially approved, laying a solid foundation for the full construction of the project at the end of the year. China Railway Group, together with the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality, approved the preliminary design of the Ankang to Chongqing section of the Xi 'an to Chongqing high-speed Railway (Iron Verification Letter (2022) No. 418), indicating that the project is ready for full construction.

The line started in Ankang hub, Sichuan Dazhou, Guang 'an, to Chongqing hub, synchronous construction of Fan Kuai to Wanzhou north section. The new line from west Ankang to the south section of Beibei is 449.27 kilometers, while the new line from Fan Kuai to the north section of Wanzhou is 88.99 kilometers.

The whole line will use high-speed rail, double line, 350 kilometers per hour standard construction, set up Ankang west, Langao, Chengkou, Fan Kuai, Xuanhan south, Dazhou south, Dazhu, Guangan east, Hechuan east, Beibei south, Chongqing west 11 stations, Fan Kuai to Wanzhou north section of Kaizhou station.

The estimated total investment of the project is about 121.311 billion yuan, of which Sichuan Province is about 60.707 billion yuan.

The Ankang to Chongqing section of Xi 'an to Chongqing high-speed Railway is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming and Baohai passages of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network, and is a major high-speed railway passage from Sichuan Province to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Economic Zone. After the completion of the project, the west path from Chongqing West Railway Station to Xi 'an via Dazhou and the east path from Chongqing East Railway Station to Xi 'an via Wanzhou will be formed. It is of great significance to improve the national high-speed railway network layout, promote the development of the West and regional coordinated development, and consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation in Qinba mountainous area.
